Congratulations Team Killer Beez, Its our 3rd anniversary. We are now into our fourth year of playing paintball. I remember when some of us first started playing paintball, woods ball @ Sg Long, late 2005, with some of the well known names in the industry heh heh...and some of us also started on the same day playing at NPNG in Sg. Buluh for a K2OC event. I guess that started the whole craziness for paintball. We have to thank our first Kapitan, ChePot or Roduwan who was instrumental and responsible for forming Team Killer Beez.
2006We started as Team Active8or , playing in Division 3 (mechanicals)...Played our first tourney @ the NPL Pre-League in January 2006, i think it was @ the padang near AmCorp mall. Some of us were so enthusiastic that we came 1 day earlier to walk the field...and thought that we were in the wrong place, there were no field setups, we were early.. one day early..muahahaha.
We started with short sleeve Active t-shirts and jeans, Active sponsored us 2 boxes then..(it was interesting to see Mr. Sopian, the NPL tourney Director pronouncing the team name in 3 different variation..we forgive u dude :) ). We were playing with 2 boxes of pellets and averaging half a loader for our games...no money for pellets..and lots of "submarine fire" from the snake and gungho mad rushes to the 50s, there were all these teams with their jerseys and all...it was soooo intimidating.
By end of the day's tournament we packed our stuff and was about to leave when ALX told us that somehow we qualified for the quarters. We were so proud then. Yep, we got one box the next day...Our war stories also got bigger and juicer as we went along..biasalah..that kept the momentum of our interest in paintballing.
Our second tourney was in the MPOC at Bukit Jalil, ChePot was still the Kapitan, for that tourney we got our first Team jersey, Yellow/Black motocross jersey bought at the Kota Damansara uptown market for RM38, i think. We got 8th placing then.
We trained on Saturdays and sometime Sundays, Some if us were working as temps at Xtion and marshalled for some money to supplement our paintball fixes. Most of the team members were still studying and unmarried.
The team turnaround came when we played @ the UM NPL, ICE leading the team. We strategies, change our positions and found our sweet spots. We managed to beat some senior teams, Honey Beez, PJCA, Delta Rovers X to name a few. We got more pellets, full loaders and the backmans got one pod each (borrowed from other sympathetic teams). That tournament also saw SPECK got hooked to paintball, after watching the UM games. He joined us for the next tourney.
There were feeder tourneys by then (won our first money prize, RM40 each) in a 3on3 TV3 SureHeboh tournament in Nilai...we didnt do too bad. Our next tourney was the MPOC, again @ Bukit Jalil, We fought hard and got our first championship in Division 3. After that, our momentum was unstopable, we got 2nd in the Asia Cup/MPOC, our rivals were then CRV, GANG and SOGO Ballbusters. Money was forever tight, but somehow we managed. By then, other senior teams/players (thanx Redza, Gary, XFoxes and others) gave us some pellets, loaned us equipment and gave tournament tips. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts.
By end of the 2006 season, we were crowned MPOC Division 3 overall Champions. Not bad for an unsponsored under funded, under dog, rag tag team, surviving on semangats and brotherhood.
20072007 was a totally new ball game. We were invited to play in the first ever XBall Superlite M7 format, the only D3 team (still unsponsored) in a group of sponsored D1 teams, with the exception of Assassin X (D2 overall champions), the tournament touted big prizes.....then :), although with some initial reservations, we decided to go ahead and compete....
We went down to JB, by KTM train with a renewed vengeance to overcome what may. We were up against Team XFox. The M7 finals was worthy of a great final. All the elements were there, crowd support and drama. Against all odds, we went on to win 4-2 with one team member each from the teams suspended. Team Killer Beez became champions of the inaugural M7 tourney, a fitting end to our campaign in 2007.
At the 2007 WCA @ Padang Timur, PJ, we were up against Team Nemesis at the semis. Luck was not on our side and we lost to Nemesis to finally take the 4th place in the WCA2007 Div 2.
2008
The year started good for us with a win in the MPOC 1st leg @ Bkt Jalil, that win secured us a free registration for WCA2008. We also had our first sponsorship, albeit partial from the pro-operators like IsiRimba, Napshot and KCHL.
The year also saw some heartache for the team and team members and also saw a new addition to the team. Lady luck smiled a lot on us that year, we managed to somehow qualified for the finals in all our MPOC legs. The team also travelled a lot. Our tourney expenses were negated against our prize money and the sponsored pellets helped a lot in reducing our costs...profitable actually, but not that muchlah.
2008 saw the teams from Penang emerged strongly in the MPOC, But we presevered and clinched the Div 2 overall title. WCA2008 saw the team playing our old style, fast and furious, but only managed us 3rd placing in the WCA2008....still not too bad, i think.
2009, Whats next..
For 2009, Killer Beez has decided to go for change and participate in the NPL tourneys and MPOC where we can. This year the team would be flying the ISI RIMBA PAINTBALL's banner. We hope for a good run.
