Updated: Facebook Further Reduces Your Control Over Personal Information

Once upon a time, Facebook could be used simply to share your interests and information with a select small community of your own choosing. As Facebook's privacy policy once promised, "No personal information that you submit to Facebook will be available to any user of the Web Site who does not belong to at least one of the groups specified by you in your privacy settings."

How times have changed.

Today, Facebook removed its users' ability to control who can see their own interests and personal information. Certain parts of users' profiles, "including your current city, hometown, education and work, and likes and interests" will now be transformed into "connections," meaning that they will be shared publicly. If you don't want these parts of your profile to be made public, your only option is to delete them.

The example Facebook uses in its announcement is a page for "Cooking." Previously, you could list "cooking" as an activity you liked on your profile, but your name would not be added to any formal "Cooking" page. (Under the old system, you could become a "fan" of cooking if you wanted). But now, the new Cooking page will publicly display all of the millions of people who list cooking as an activity.

Cooking is not very controversial or privacy-sensitive, and thus makes for a good example from Facebook's perspective. Who would want to conceal their interest in cooking? Of course, the new program will also create public lists for controversial issues, such as an interest in abortion rights, gay marriage, marijuana, tea parties and so on.

But even for an innocuous interest like cooking, it’s not clear how this change is meant to benefit Facebook's users. An ordinary human is not going to look through the list of Facebook's millions of cooking fans. It's far too large. Only data miners and targeted advertisers have the time and inclination to delve that deeply.

There is one loophole — tell Facebook you're under 18. Under Facebook's policy for minors, your interests would only be visible for friends and family and verified networks. You would not be publicly listed on these new connection pages. However, this only works as you set up a new account.

The new connections features benefit Facebook and its business partners, with little benefit to you. But what are you going to do about it? Facebook has consistently ignored demands from its users to create an easy "exit plan" for migrating their personal data to another social networking website, even as it has continued — one small privacy policy update after another — to reduce its users' control over their information.

The answer: Let Facebook hear your frustration. Last December, when Facebook announced a new round of privacy degradations, it provoked a potent combination of public outrage, legal threats, and government investigations. In response, Facebook listened to some criticism and walked-back a few of its changes. Now it will allow users to adjust the visibility of information in their profiles, such as hiding your friend list from other friends. If you want Facebook to walk back these new changes too, let them know how you feel.

Update: A few people have contacted us by email and through Facebook to ask for clarification about this post. They're confused by the language in Facebook's announcement, which describes the new changes as "opt-in".

The issue with Facebook's latest change is not that they force you to link your interests without permission, but rather that they remove an option to express yourself on the profile without links. As we noted, Facebook users now face a Hobson's choice between the new Connections and no listed interests at all. As Facebook explains, "If you didn't connect to any of the suggestions, the sections of your profile to which those suggestions corresponded will now be empty." (The transition tool also allows you to delay the choice by saying 'Ask Me Later'). Previously, you could list interests in your profile without linking; after the transition, you cannot. You do have options to adjust visibility on the profile page, for which we commend Facebook, but nevertheless, this is not a true opt-out because the all the "Facebook Pages you connect to are public."

Facebook users would be better off and better able to express themselves if they could choose whether or not to link their interests and activities to a community, if they decide to list them.

FRIDAY

It was a gloomy Friday morning when we arrived at Xtreme Park in Bukit Jalil, site of the WCA 2008. It had rained earlier in the morning, but had tapered of at about 0500. The tournament fields looks good (better than in 2006/7, but hey, this is just the first day :) ). By 0700, the participating teams have started to arrived. Team banners and flags were put up; the vendor tents have slowly started to come alive. The first games of the tourney started early. Ahh..Was a perfect morning..

Then it happened, about mid morning ...there was power failure which affected the air compressors which subsequently delayed the games for about 1.5 hours. The power came up after repairs were made and the games got underway again. The competitions at the games were intensed with lots of D2 and D3 teams providing the initial actions. D1teams were to play their games on Saturday.

It was a good day’s performance for Killer Beez, We liked to think that we'd played well on the first day, winning 9 out of 11 games that we played. We lost only to the Thais. We played a tight well coordinated attacking strategy in almost all our games. Unfortunately, the saying that “don’t fix it if its not broken” was to be our achilles heel, during the final stages of the tourney.. Oh...i also managed to get to play a game (I think it was against one of the Pinoy’s team) using the new Eclipse GEO (thanx Big Bro Aris of Raskal,, heh heh), the handling felt good, the marker had the accuracy and consistency....wish i could get it..hmmmm.

We got some of our friends together to help out and would like to thank them for being our crew. Thanks Ayie, Wilson (thnx for the pix) and Mike (hope the toothache is gone) for helping us out there.

By end of the day, about 1600, the skies assembled with storm clouds and the rain fell later in the evening.

Saturday

There were no games for us on Saturday, so took some time to look around the products/vendors booths.There were a lot of discounts for paintball items at the vendor stations, Dye, Proto, Eclipse, MacDevs and others. I went to visit the vendors today to find some parts for my trusty PMR, The Tech from Dye was gracious enough to replace the PMRs battery harness and also got some good discounts from them on other items. Thanx guys. I would like to advice paintballers to take the opportunity to visit and get them to look at your markers.

SuperSunday

For Super Sunday's second round, Team Killer Beez would be pitched against the following teams;
Teams Aggression(Thai), Rimba Bandits ,and Highway Star(Thai). The day started early as usual, the 2nd round games were about to start. Our groupings (Group C) consist of Teams Aggression (THA), Isi Rimba (MAS) and HighwayStar (THA). We lost against Team HighwayStar, but managed to win against the other teams in the group. However, it was also unfortunate that we also had to take out Team Rimba Bandits. Something about the Thai teams, we seem to find it difficult to win against them, in the prelims we lost to teams Infernal2 and HighwayStar, luckily we won against Team Agression. In the group crossover, we had to beat Team Warrior, which we did, although we wish they would not have to be out of the tourney. We were setup to play Australia’s Wasp Black in the semis. The ozzies took the first game before we fought back and took the second. The decisive 3^rd game was in favour of the ozzies, these guys were reading our gameplay and countered. Wasp Black went into the finals.

Killer Beez and IronSea fought for 3^rd and 4^th placing, after an even fight, Killer Beez took the 3^rd placing in the Division 2, WCA 2008. That concluded our campaign for the year.

Brace for 3 to 14 hours without electricity
A total of 720 areas in 11 states would be affected by the operation, which would be spread out in stages from now until August.

Only Perlis, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya will be spared. The length of the power cuts would vary from three hours to 14 hours, depending on the type of work carried out. A list of "power interruption alerts", posted on TNB's website, details where, when and what kind of work would be done, ranging from preventive maintenance to cable replacement. Selangor will have the highest number of cuts, with 268 areas affected by maintenance work, which began yesterday and will go on until July 31. They include Bangi, Klang, Petaling Jaya, Sungai Besar, Kuala Selangor, Banting, Subang Jaya, Cheras and Rawang. Next on the list is Johor, with 127 disruptions until Aug 4 in Johor Baru, Johor Jaya, Batu Pahat, Segamat, Kluang, Pasir Gudang, Muar and Kulai. Kedah has 89 jobs scheduled until Aug 8 in Sungai Petani, Pendang, Jitra, Alor Star, Baling, Bandar Baru and Langkawi. A senior TNB officer said this was part of its maintenance schedule. The officer said it was a coincidence that all the maintenance work would be done over the same period. "This is normal. The maintenance schedule is set by TNB's distribution division and it will only affect small areas at any given time."

Another one bites the dust.....Last weekend our frens pingu and ayu got engaged...finally heh heh, the happy event took place in the northern state of Penang. Ice, Alx and Mija was there to provide moral support. Ice took some pix from his superduper cam fone.

Nasa Wings over KL

Sifting thru some old digital captures, found this gem. Deadline, Dataran Merdeka, Saturday, August 2004, Malay Mail Big Walk. Some flight hobbyist group were invited to fly their power kites. This is one of those scenes which you would rarely see in downtown KL.

They were flying six 5.3 meter sq NPWs or Nasa Power Wing, first developed by NASA to reduce the space shuttle speed at landings.

The surrounding buildings effectively shutout most of the winds most of the time, however at about 4PM there were gusts of wind coming from the CM direction for a good 15 minutes, which enable these 4 liner kites to lift.

The first day saw spirited engagement between the teams, Teams NoMercy and CMX displayed grit and guts in their prelims games. The other teams also did their best and managed to take a set or two in their campaigns. The competition was good. The Finals between Killer Beez and Raskal1 was exciting with the sets being played in light drizle. Raskal1 took two sets to nought against Killer Beez. Killer Beez fouhgt back and won the next three sets and clinched the champion title. The fighting spirits impressed all who had watched the game. Kudos to the players of both teams.

Congratulations Team Killer Beez, Its our 3rd anniversary. We are now into our fourth year of playing paintball. I remember when some of us first started playing paintball, woods ball @ Sg Long, late 2005, with some of the well known names in the industry heh heh...and some of us also started on the same day playing at NPNG in Sg. Buluh for a K2OC event. I guess that started the whole craziness for paintball. We have to thank our first Kapitan, ChePot or Roduwan who was instrumental and responsible for forming Team Killer Beez.

2006
We started as Team Active8or , playing in Division 3 (mechanicals)...Played our first tourney @ the NPL Pre-League in January 2006, i think it was @ the padang near AmCorp mall. Some of us were so enthusiastic that we came 1 day earlier to walk the field...and thought that we were in the wrong place, there were no field setups, we were early.. one day early..muahahaha.

We started with short sleeve Active t-shirts and jeans, Active sponsored us 2 boxes then..(it was interesting to see Mr. Sopian, the NPL tourney Director pronouncing the team name in 3 different variation..we forgive u dude :) ). We were playing with 2 boxes of pellets and averaging half a loader for our games...no money for pellets..and lots of "submarine fire" from the snake and gungho mad rushes to the 50s, there were all these teams with their jerseys and all...it was soooo intimidating.

By end of the day's tournament we packed our stuff and was about to leave when ALX told us that somehow we qualified for the quarters. We were so proud then. Yep, we got one box the next day...Our war stories also got bigger and juicer as we went along..biasalah..that kept the momentum of our interest in paintballing.

Our second tourney was in the MPOC at Bukit Jalil, ChePot was still the Kapitan, for that tourney we got our first Team jersey, Yellow/Black motocross jersey bought at the Kota Damansara uptown market for RM38, i think. We got 8th placing then.

We trained on Saturdays and sometime Sundays, Some if us were working as temps at Xtion and marshalled for some money to supplement our paintball fixes. Most of the team members were still studying and unmarried.

The team turnaround came when we played @ the UM NPL, ICE leading the team. We strategies, change our positions and found our sweet spots. We managed to beat some senior teams, Honey Beez, PJCA, Delta Rovers X to name a few. We got more pellets, full loaders and the backmans got one pod each (borrowed from other sympathetic teams). That tournament also saw SPECK got hooked to paintball, after watching the UM games. He joined us for the next tourney.

There were feeder tourneys by then (won our first money prize, RM40 each) in a 3on3 TV3 SureHeboh tournament in Nilai...we didnt do too bad. Our next tourney was the MPOC, again @ Bukit Jalil, We fought hard and got our first championship in Division 3. After that, our momentum was unstopable, we got 2nd in the Asia Cup/MPOC, our rivals were then CRV, GANG and SOGO Ballbusters. Money was forever tight, but somehow we managed. By then, other senior teams/players (thanx Redza, Gary, XFoxes and others) gave us some pellets, loaned us equipment and gave tournament tips. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts.

By end of the 2006 season, we were crowned MPOC Division 3 overall Champions. Not bad for an unsponsored under funded, under dog, rag tag team, surviving on semangats and brotherhood.

2007
2007 was a totally new ball game. We were invited to play in the first ever XBall Superlite M7 format, the only D3 team (still unsponsored) in a group of sponsored D1 teams, with the exception of Assassin X (D2 overall champions), the tournament touted big prizes.....then :), although with some initial reservations, we decided to go ahead and compete....

We went down to JB, by KTM train with a renewed vengeance to overcome what may. We were up against Team XFox. The M7 finals was worthy of a great final. All the elements were there, crowd support and drama. Against all odds, we went on to win 4-2 with one team member each from the teams suspended. Team Killer Beez became champions of the inaugural M7 tourney, a fitting end to our campaign in 2007.

At the 2007 WCA @ Padang Timur, PJ, we were up against Team Nemesis at the semis. Luck was not on our side and we lost to Nemesis to finally take the 4th place in the WCA2007 Div 2.

2008
The year started good for us with a win in the MPOC 1st leg @ Bkt Jalil, that win secured us a free registration for WCA2008. We also had our first sponsorship, albeit partial from the pro-operators like IsiRimba, Napshot and KCHL.

The year also saw some heartache for the team and team members and also saw a new addition to the team. Lady luck smiled a lot on us that year, we managed to somehow qualified for the finals in all our MPOC legs. The team also travelled a lot. Our tourney expenses were negated against our prize money and the sponsored pellets helped a lot in reducing our costs...profitable actually, but not that muchlah.

2008 saw the teams from Penang emerged strongly in the MPOC, But we presevered and clinched the Div 2 overall title. WCA2008 saw the team playing our old style, fast and furious, but only managed us 3rd placing in the WCA2008....still not too bad, i think.

2009, Whats next..
For 2009, Killer Beez has decided to go for change and participate in the NPL tourneys and MPOC where we can. This year the team would be flying the ISI RIMBA PAINTBALL's banner. We hope for a good run.

MPOC Series 2008

On 26Nov08, at the Johor Bahru’s MPOC5, Team Killer Beez was confirmed as the 2008 MPOC’s Division 2 Series Champion. Congratulations guys, we've done good but we could be better. We need to work and train harder to face next year's challenges. We’ve diligently participated in all possible legs of the D2 MPOC series all over the country. Not forgetting the feeder series in between the major tournaments
In all the 4 legs of the D2 series, the Team qualified for the finals. As champions of one of the legs, the team won free registration to the WCA2008, together with teams SPECTRE, IMMORTALZ and WERDNA ESCORT. Killer Beez would like to record our appreciation to the other D2 teams like CMX, Assassin X, the teams from PPSC, BioShock and others for the challenges.
Our utmost appreciation also to our families and friends who somehow managed to understand our passion for the game, allowing us to go for trainings and tournaments and sacrificing our time with them.
We would like to extend our appreciation and thanks to the Sponsors and corporate supporters, IsiRimba, Napshot Paintball, Propaintball, KCHL, Skirmish for the boxes of paints, discounts and other material support. Xperiencing XFox

The week before MPOC5 in JB, An opportunity to play with Team XFox materialized, Redza of XFox called to ask if I would be interested to play for XFox in JB. Ok..XFox is asking if I’m interested play with them…hmmmm…I’ve always wanted to play with them in a tournament to see how it’s like... We have played them before…but that’s another story. This was an excellent opportunity - so I confirmed with Redza and there I was….waking up early on a purrrfect Saturday early morning to catch the AirAsia flight to JB. The Foxes left KL @ 0600 almost the same time I took the cab to LCCT from the house. By the time I arrived at Senai at about 0915 and called up the guys, they were already at Dataran JB looking at the fields. Apparently traffic on the NS Highway was very lite…or so I was told.
Our first game on day 1 was at 1100 against Teams XMenz, to be followed by isiRimba and CMX. XFox won the matches against IsiRimba and CMX and took a set out of XMenz. Day 2 was tougher, with Raskal and Demonz Red. XFoxes managed to take a set out of Demonz. Our 3 and 4th placing game was against Raskal. We fought hard, but Raskal’s firepower prevailed. Team XFox was ranked 4th in the tourney and for the overall 2008 Series.
One thing I learned from playing in D1 is that there cannot be margin for error at all, you’ve gotta enhanced your skills and speed, to be perfect in your strategy, postings/positioning and accuracy. If you don’t take the other guy out, He/She will take you out.
I would like to thank the team members for this tourney, Redza, Ereeq, Jakes (Original), Jakes (Khairul), Didie, ALI, Awe and Zed for the opportunity to play with you guys. Hope I didn’t disappoint too much. Thanks again for the experience and the pleasure of playing with Team XFox. Pain is Temporary – Pride is Forever

well, just saw the news in the forum that the venue for the JB MPOC5 has been changed from the stadium to Dataran JB, that will probbly make some mess of our logistix. anyways we have to wait a bit for the final confirmation on any updates of the Div 2 status in JB. whatever the decision, Team Killer Beez's training tomorrow @ Xtion, Bukit Jalil. being prepared is 3/4 of the fight..ok see u guys tomorrow, ciao 73s.

The Ramadhan is almost over, after the Raya, things would probbaly return back to routine. Some of the paintball teams have been practising either on weekends or at night. . I guess everybody needs to be back in good physical shape. Such a short time to practice......The Royal Johore Paintball Cup is just about two weeks after the Raya. Anyways enjoy the hols. To all frens and visitors to the blogsite, Team Killer Beez would like to wish all Selamat Hari Raya, and for those driving outstation, pls drive safely, We'll meet again in Johor Bahru for the finale of the MPOC 2008. Merdeka Day - Super 7 - Malaysia Open @ Astaka

So there we were with Rimba Warriors playing in our second ever 7 on 7 tourney. The tournament this time seems a bit more meriah with lots more teams adding to the fun.. We were playing in the 2nd division with a total of 8 teams, Rimba Warriors, BallBuster, Lemon Rusky, Urban Rush, CMX, NoMercy, Orient Legion and another team (sorry cant remember their callsign). Most of the teams were a combined teams, nice to see some familiar faces. All Div 2 games were to be played at Field One.

Day1, Saturday

Day 1 started on Saturday, as early as 0810, we were playing back to back, which was quite taxing actually. We had Hafiz, Hafizil, Iqbal, Herman, Pingu, Mamat, Speck and myself on that day. Everybody was playing very fast games. We lost 3 games to Teams Ballbuster, Lemon Rusky and NoMercy and won 5 games (played twice against NoMercy - lost one, won one).

There was some initial confusion on the format of the games but was later clarified. By midday, the prelims was over - quite fast - very efficient. By end of the prelims, RimbaWarrior was ranked 3rd, below Lemon Rusky and NoMercy. Not a bad day outing lah. It rained quite heavily sometime in the afternoon though.

Day2, Sunday - 51st Independence Day

Day 2, Ice came after missing the 1st day tourney, We were slotted to play BallBuster in the knockout Quarters, best of 3 games, Rimba Warriors took the 1st set but subsequently lost the rest of the sets. We were out of the tourney. We lost, could have done better but...However, our objectives to expose the team members to 7 man format tourney was achieved. We will have to identify and close the gaps to better ourselves.

Overall, the organisation and technicals of the tourney was good, air was consistently above 4000psi. Good tourney all around - kudos to NEMESIS PB Club and the organisers.

Thank to IsiRimba, Team Warrior and Ibu for letting us play. We hope we've not disappointed anyone. And congrats also to Team Rimba Bandits for the podium finish.

	Dear Team, MPOC4 UIAM is just around the corner, it would b one of the last tourney, before the Ramadhan, the other being the Super 7 on the 31st. We know what the stakes are, our strength and weaknesses and what we've GOT to do....so lets DO IT and DO IT right.
	Okie dokie, UIAM MPOC4 has just concluded, and the good thing is..we managed to get into the finals..again, however, the Div 2 championship is still not within our grasp. Todate, we've completed a hatrick for being 1st runners up..hmmmmmm. Ok, so its not that bad lah...considering. We were missing some key players, Alex and Sky was unable to play, but we'll do our best regardless of the circumstances. <- our proud banner
Day One of MPOC4 The day started at 1600 on a clouded Saturday at the Hamzah Stadium in UIAM, Republic of Gombak. The weather was good, and the field looks great. M7 games was played on the Luxe field, Lotsa big bunkers, it was set to be an attacking game. Our first game was against Team Immortalz from Penang. The game started badly with Team Killer Beez (KBz), downed 2 - 0. Pingu was already screaming murder. Come ON guys. Somehow we managed to claw back from disaster and drew the sets. Left flanking Zafry and Speck played a major role in stopping the advance of the Immortalz. Our right flank was attacking, and we clinched our wining points. Immortalz played a good game. Score was 3-2 in KBz favour. Double Phews. Our second game for the day was against a revived Assassin X, with GunGrave player contributing to the team. Assassin X took the first 2 sets (again..ouch), they look set to take the game..but, we clawed back and drew the sets. Final set was good and KBz clinched it, score was set at 3-2. That ended the day for us with a slight drizzle. Isharuddin (9W2ISH) and Arif from XtionPaintball, crewed for us. Thanx guys, we really couldn't do it without you guys. 	Super Sunday The day started early for us, our game was scheduled to start at 0900, our first game was against a very strong and fast team, SPECTRE from Penang, they have improved, as seen in the Penang tourney. They have not dropped a game. The game between KBz and Spectre was intensed, again the opposing team had a 2 - 0 advantage over KBz. Its looks like a habit with us, we've got to do something. Again we managed to fight back and drew the game. 1 more game to beat them. The deciding game was not good, there were some hardware failures, KBz first defeat for the tourney, Spectre took the game at 3 - 2. Our fightbacks earned us the comeback king title...heh hehs, but not this time. But, it was always great and challenging to play against this team, with their way of play and all.
	The noon sun shined very brightly and the day became hotter....very much hotter. Our morale came down a notch. Our second game was in about an hour, against another tough team, CMX Buccaneers. It was a do or die, in Penang, KBz and CMX was tied in points and a one on one was played to decide the team that was to be in the finals, the game was in favour of KBz, today, we knew it was not going to be easy.
	KBz took the first 2 sets with a 2 - 0 scoreline, CMX fought back and took a set. The 4th set finished with some controversy, that put some spice in the tourney. Conflicting calls resulted in the 4th matched being declared void and a one on one between the remaining players of both team was initially decided. However, the teams decided on a rematch, which was agreed upon by the Marshalls - good call.
	CMX and KBz fought hard, CMX suffered a one for one penalty. KBz rushed and concluded the game with a 3 - 1 scoreline. We were in the finals for the 4th consecutive times, we were hoping for a better luck this time. Oh yeah, Pedro Mud did a 'tenggiling' move and injured his knee (maybe just another excuse to visit the medics...heh heh heh). Liza Glam and Edy of IsiRimba crewed, coached and spotted for us. Thanx to both of them. The finals was to be played at 1500, and the day's heat doesn't seem to be letting up. The waiting and the heat took us out of focus and momentum. <- KBz multicolored look
	The Finals Spectre took the first set, KBz replied and took the second set quickly, score set at 1 - 1. A gas blow out hit AXN's marker, and fast move by Spectre flanking from both sides resulted in the a victory for Spectre. Spectre took the 4th set after an intensed battle...and Spectre clinched the Div 2 championship. It was a good show overall. Subsonique was great as MC for the day. More good food and drinks for Marshalls - It was a HOT HOT day.

Urban Assault, Padang Merbok, KL

>> 26 July 08, The morning started out very calmly and you can see lots of special forces type (and a couple of people wearing speedball attires) were already at Padang Merbuk, KL, the location for the first ever Urban Assault Scenario Series.The scenes at the padang was impressive with the army type people, gears and markers.
The event was for the benefit of the victims of the recent China earthquake and Gaza Strip blockade. It was coordinated and organized by Islamic Relief Malaysia (IRM) and Isi Rimba.
There were a total of 11 teams, big names in the scenario community, Mud Legion, Marauders units, RimbaWarrior (hmmmm) amongst others. The single tournament field was almost as big as 2.3/4 speedball field – that’s one huge area (if u intent to run around a lot lah). There was a derelict Volvo right in the middle of the field with numerous small bunkers made from plywood and metal drums, air bunkers was slotted in later into the games.
The game play was a bit different, there were to be 7 man/side in the field, and the captains and medics are prohibited to be armed, but there were allowed shields. The objective was to grab the flags and passed it to the captains. Each captured flags carried points..and you can start anywhere along the starting line.
The first game started about 1030, a bit delayed. The first couple of games saw the teams moving cautiously, team members were attacking or defending while trying to go for the flags…not much different from speedball, cept that the medic was running all over the place. Then one team decides to utilize the captain with shield advantage to go for the flags. All hell broke loose, subsequent games saw lots of running and chasing, with opponents chasing the medics and captains who were dodging bullets to rush for the flags, the use of ATVs also adds to the scenario mood of the game.
Games then were played back to back, which efficiently sap energy from the participating teams. The amount of fast running, while dodging pellets, got me thinking that the scenarios/woodsball guys are definitely ready for speedball tourneys. Soooo how bout it guys?
RimbaWarrior fought hard but hard luck to us, I think we were more into eliminating the opponents (and in one game, our captain..hahahahaha) than trying to get the flags which carried more points – what the hey…we are speedballers….and good at it, I mite say..heh heh heh.
In the end, only two were left, squads, Mud Legion and Marauder Assault,
for the finals, the rules were changed, the captains and medics are allowed to be armed, but cannot carry any shielding. The finals were like a speedball game, but with full camo and rocking markers. I even saw some of them sliding into bunkers…whoa stop dude….bangs.
Mud Legion persevered and clinches the first ever Urban Assault title. Congratulations to the winner and all participating teams. Thank you marshals and organizers, I am sure they will do better at the next Urban Assault. Lets keep that date.

New ProPaintball Pro-shop

Congrats to Propaintball on the opening of its new outlet in Kelana Jaya. Lots of people were there, saw some of the DemonzRed guys, and 2 of the XSV team members was also there, Junior and Thomas together with the KBS people. Some of our local top paintballers were also there at the opening.

The opening starts with some lion dances which was quite cool, now.. only if we can recruit them to play paintball, you'll probably see lots of flying ballers. Pingu was also there practicing his photographic skills. ooiii cepat sikit, kitorang nak tengok gambar. The guys from XSV also obliged with their autographs...hmm maybe i could put my jersey up on ebay. I think the MacDev and JT bigshots were also there....too bad didn't have enuff time to promote our team...neymind next time probably...those guys from XSV are here in Malaysia to participate in the FloraFest Desaru NPPL tourney and would be conducting paintball clinics in Melaka, Temerloh and other places. On behalf of The Ministry of Tourism Malaysia (Visit Malaysia Year) and the Malaysian Paintball Association, Malaysian Paintball Ruling Body is pleased to announce the most rewarding international paintball event in Asia in 2008, the 'FLORA FEST PAINTBALL'.

The 10 days event will go on a road tour from the northern region moving down covering 4 peninsular states in Malaysia before staging the grand finale event in Desaru.

Training @ IsiRimba - Happy Birthday Hafizil

13July08 - Ibu Warrior of IsiRimba invited the team for a get together makan for Hafizil's birthday last Sunday, the kambing and other food was excellent. Thanx. We had our training there as well - 5 of the KBz were present. We did some skirmishes against the Bandits, Warrior and the IsiRimba teams. A good outing overall. the training started about 1100 and finishes about 1600...of course in between was the food...sure was good to train again - next time we'll try to get in the full team. ok guys..Good Luck to the teams who will be taking part in the Kedah tourney.

Ok guys, we are now in the mid point of the series, the latest ranking is out, thanx to xtion forum. While we are still numero uno in the rankings, with 19 points, our nearest rival, team Immortalz, is just a mere 3 points behind us. Team Spectre is in 3rd place with 4 points ahead of CMX and 2 points behind Immortalz. Theres a good chance of Spectre and Immortalz gunning for the overall 1st place too, and we also wouldn't want to exclude teams CMX and Werdna Escort which could pull in an upset in the next two legs. We would have to work harder to maintain our position, the overall D2 title can be ours , but we need to be focused and work on our moves and strategies. Come on Killer Beez, WE CAN do it.

The teams in D1 are more evenly matched between the top two teams. Its still quite open with XMenz as the wildcard. Anything could happen in the next few legs. We might even see Team XFox pushing an upset.

Bottom lines is...anything can and will happen in the M7 format.

Big Game At Isi Rimba

Its that time of the year where the big game - woodsball - will be held @ Isi Rimba. This time the target participants is 360 to 400 ballers with the Malaysian Insurgency as the theme. The event will be held on Jun 15 2008. Get that ghilliy suit from your cupboard and service your marker, also dont forget to buy the mini blower for your masks.

The BIG game is just days away now, its going to be interesting with the introduction of the Black Cell special forces type teams. The Black Cell forces would be attributed with special abilities to compliment its core function of penetrating and infiltrating the enemy's positions - so come on down and register NOW. Penang MPOC3

Day One
The team arrived in Penang bout 7am, everybody had a good nap before heading to the stadium. It was an impressive setup at the stadium - with the scoreboard and all. Our game started at 1530pm, KBz was scheduled to play PPSC’s Orient Legion and Immortalz, both strong Penang teams and playing at their homeground - all gunning for us…:)
As expected our 1st D2 M7 game was against Orient Legion and was an engaging battle never seen before since Desert Storm…or whatever they r calling it now… - it was bunker to bunker, pellets sputtering, gas hissing, loader kaput fight to the end. We lost our 1st set - but we manage to rebound in the sets after, and it finally came to a draw score line. The air was thick with anticipation and humidity…

YES…it’s a 1on1 KBz against OL. KBz’s captain, Ice, prepared himself; put on his red, yellow and turquoise ninja suit…concentrates on his katana and meditates. He sees himself flying, soaring above the clouds chasing after a rabbit…no its not…its Speck…suddenly Speck transform into a …jockey?? But that’s another story…hahahahaha. The 1on1 started with an end to end bunker skirmishes and some smart snapshooting…the OL sniper moves…Ice countered, taking the fight to the Orient Legionnaire sniper – after an intense stop and go snapshooting, the OL went down…and Killer Beez takes the game.

Our 2nd game was about 2 hours later, against Immortalz (the last leg champs) we took the 1st and the 2nd sets. In the 2nd set, the opponents were rushing towards KBz’s starting gate to hit the non existence buzzer and put us out of our misery –BUT, that was not to be. The Immortalz were about 5 seconds to the gate when Zafry and Ice, working in tandem – took out the not so immortal kamikazes. Zafry got shot out on the way… the Marshalls met for a sec to decide on the situation…quite a little bit of discussion was going on...”cramp cramp no no no …yes yes yes…maybe..hmm….water water” could be overheard…the Marshalls then awarded the set to us. For our 3rd set – there was about 1 minute and 30 seconds of game time remaining and with 2-0 score, we just needed to hold them, easier said than done. Then with 10 seconds remaining, Team Killer Beez summoned the ancient great spirit of Naruto and took out the opponents, the Marshalls shouted “FREEEEEZEEE” and KBz clinches the game with a 3-0 score line win.
Told u these guys will fight tooth and nail.

We had a lot of support from Mark and Ali as crew, Team XFox – Redz (who worked very hard, screaming and shirtless...), Hamman, Ereeq, Gorgon, Jakes and Gary, who’s coaching was instrumental in our win against Orient Legion.
….Well, we did ok today but tomorrow would be another round of tough games. So far since the start of the 1st MPOC this year, team KBz had not yet drop a game - a remarkable achivement..if u ask me lah....and we will try our best to maintain that...

Day Two
Welcome back to the City Stadium Penang, Day 2 of the “world renowned MPOC” 3rd leg, would the rise in temperature be the benchmark of the pace that is yet to come. We came and prepared our logistix (had our breakfast @ the Vistana - thanx XFoxes).
Our 1st game was to be against CMX Buccaneers, a hard fighting team. Both teams were already on the edges, fingers at the trigger. The KBz CMX game started about 1100, we positioned facing the scoreboard. Then the CMXs came into the padang..from far, it looks like everyone of them were with 7 pods…I knew then there’s gonna be trouble.
GAMEON – the pelleterings of pellets started, everybody moves into their respective bunkers…every bunker have their mirror. None of the opponents seems to be moving forward – the pellets keep coming…I’m hot I’m hot, (yep there’s a lot of that) someone crossed, “Splat”, I’m out…we kept on fighting for a little longer – We lost the set…

The 2nd set was a bit better; we started out lining the opponents taking 1 or 2 out @ breakout, someone rushed to the 50s, , KBzs backmans then started to neutralize CMXs flanks breaking down their fire concentration and KBz took the 2nd set. Score now set @ 1-1. The firepower coming from CMX in the 3rd set was more intense than the other sets, back flanks started to get shot off. The team forwards started to move to the 30s and 40s..CMX crosses and…..game over.
Our first game defeat since MPOC1 (not counting coin tossing). Score line: 2 CMX 1 KBz.

Killer Beez 2nd game for the day was against Bioshock, a team from Penang. We heard from intel that Bioshock’s training partners are some big names in the paintball fraternity…anyways, we never underestimate our opponents. XFox’s Gorgon coached and crewed and filled gas and pellet pods and wiped paints and all the other stuff – thanx Gorgon. Set 1 was fast and furious, after our last defeat against CMX, we cannot afford to drop anymore games – our Penang budget was at stake – I can already hear it in my head, Ice’s warning “oiiii kita kena menang ni…aku dah kira pakai jari…kalau tak menang sorang kena bayar RM500 …nanti habis budget engine turbo aku...”, and that scared the shit out of everybody…Ice and me flanked Bioshock from the right facing the scoreboardless area, the others team members move from the snake and left “teabag” heh heh…pushing forward and taking out anything that moves…unfortunately, including marshals….KBz took 2nd set. One more come on!

3rd set starts…everything was according to plan, initially anyways - then, one by one, the KBzs got taken out…then 3 Bioshockers came running towards Ice and bunkered him… Score line was @ 2 -1. 4th set starts, this time KBz was out for blood – they rush up and took the Bioshockers out and taking the game @ 3 -1.

We then rested, while waiting (actually quite a long while) for the other teams to finished up their games. CMX and Killer Beez were tied, Werdna Escort had already confirmed their place in the finals – the organizers decided that CMX and Killer Beez fight it out in another 1on1 to decide who will go into the finals with Werdna Escort – Werdna Escort top their group without dropping a game. After the Div 1 1on1s with 3 coin tossed, KBz and CMXs champions got ready for the 1on1 set – Zafry coaching for Ice and Zamry sniping for CMX. Both players started slow both were understandably cautious. After trading shots, Ice maneuvered and managed to hit his opponents right on the mask - gameover – Team Killer Beez was in their 3rd consecutive MPOC finals.

The game between 3rd and 4th placing were fought between teams CMX and Spectre. Both teams played a fast game, bunker to bunker. – CMX took the 1st set and Spectre took the 2nd set with a very brave moved by Lindsay to rush and touch the starting gate. It ended in a draw setting up for another 1on1. The 1on1 also resulted in a draw – thus another coin toss, (should have a syllabus for coin tossing). Luck was again not on CMX side and Team Spectre took the 3rd place.

The D2 Finals – 1630 Teams Werdna Escort against Killer Beez.
The set started with the Beez running and shooting into the opponent’s bunkers. Werdna Escort attacked from the snake flank taking out our back and crossing hitting our forwards and left back – we lost the 1st set. In the 2nd set, things got worst, technical problems. Only Zafry and Speck was left shooting. The team decided to throw in the towel with about 3 minutes left. 3rd set starts – Coach Redza were shouting instructions left and right – massive exchange of pellets ensued.
10 seconds on the clock – Redza was shouting for the team to move – Sky moved from left to right taking out 1 opponent then another – Axn slides from the back teabag thru to right to the middle temple – Zafry to the 50 – everybody was poised to move forward. Axn rush to the opponents 30s running and shooting – the crowds were counting down the seconds, 9…8…7..Axn taken out by Werdna’s middle temple – gameover – Werdna Escort clinched the D2 TYTs MPOC championship – Killer Beez took 2nd place.

MPOC Division 2 Ranking

This is the current standing as at MPOC 2 in Bukit Jalil. The 3rd leg MPOC tournament would be held this w/end, 31May thru 1 June. It will be held at the City Stadium in Penang. Two of the Top 3 teams are from Penang, the other being Killer Beez, Terengganu. Theres not many points separating the top 3 teams. the Penangites are sure to battle to the max at their homeground, but KBz are not easy pushovers - MPOC3, The Governor's Cup would be crucial for the top teams and should be an interesting tourney for the D2s. So come on guys WE CAN DO IT - psyche ourselves up - get the semangat..we are going to Penang to WIN. ...you think about it...

Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit
MPOC Penang 3^rd Leg - 30^th June – 1^st July 2007

Team Killer Beez flagged off from Ali Baba Restaurant in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail at about 0100 early Saturday morning with a convoy of two cars and a SUV. After initial checking of our gears and securing them into the Storm SUV, we were off. We were to rendezvous with Alex, Killer Beez’s captain in Taiping. After some initial pit stops, we finally arrived in Taiping at about 0415; we were escorted by Alex to his home somewhere in the area. After a short adhoc nap and freshening up, we pushed off to Penang and reached the tournament fields in Padang Dato’ Keramat in George Town at 0815.

After completing registration and other admin matters, the Team prep themselves for our first game at 0845. For the preliminaries, we were to play 10 teams out of 13 of Division 2 teams. The teams came from the Klang Valley and the northern regions.

We were slotted to play 4 games before lunch and 3 games in the afternoon and 3 the next day.We were also to play the invitational M7 Xball Lite format recently introduce as a demo tourney in early 2007, as a tournament highlights during the lunch breaks. The Xball Lite format is a 15 minutes game with a 2.5 minutes pitstop time after each set-game. The first team to reach 5 games scoreline and within the 15 minutes, wins. Team Northern Shield, the Perlis Paintball lions was to be our opponents for the leg.

Team Killer Beez performed exceptionally well in the prelims during the two tourney days, dropping only 2 games, to Teams Werdna Hol and AK47 respectively, both are manned by a combination of experienced Division Ones and Twos players. Both games were very close with only 1 or 2 remaining opponents. Killer Beez qualified for the Quarters which were to be held the next day.

M7 - Open Division (Invitational)

Killer Beez played a very fast and aggressive game. With our guest player, Hamman, from Team Manawave, both flanks movements were effectively syncronised, giving our centres space to pick the opponents one by one. The game was intense and the excitement got the crowd cheering for the teams. Northern Shield was playing hard with nothing to lose. Killer Beez was in the running for top places…..we couldn’t risk losing a game. Killer Beez aggressiveness and teamwork paid off, we beat Northern Shield 5 Games to nil….it was no easy victory. We are now ranked 1^st in the M7 format.

The Quarters

Killer Beez qualified for the quarters, grouped together with established Teams - AK47, XXtioneers, both the joint organiser’s (xtionpaintball) international level teams and Perlis All-Stars. Against all expectations, the wily Beez won against XXtioneers, AK47 and Perlis All-Stars and qualified for the Semis. By beating these teams, Killer Beez inadvertently opened up the race for the overall top four teams in the Division Two of the MPOC league.

The Semis

Killer Beez was up against Werdna Hol for the Semis-1 and Manawave and Ak47 in Semis-2. It was a best of three games format. The first game against Werdna Hol was intense, propulsion problems and luck was not on our side. We lost the first game.

In the 2^nd game, with the crowd cheering, it was a cliff hanger…one by one, on both sides players were shot out. At the end, Killer Beez was left with one man standing against Werdna Hol’s two...Killer Beez’s Ice charged out from the flank ran up to the opponents 70’s line and took out both opponents. The Beez won the second game.

The final 3^rd game was long and intense, at the end it came down to two players on each side. Killer Beez’s Mud expired his marker’s compressed air. Pingu was on the left flank firing support for Mud who was running empty to the opponent’s 50s and trying for the flag. A Werdna Hol’s player emerged from the 60’s bunker and shot Mud. Another flanker got Pingu on the sides. A player from Werdna Hol had to be supported out of the field due to heat and fatigue.

It was a close one, but it was not to be for Team Killer Beez to enter the Finals….this time.

The playoff for 3rd and 4th against Team Manawave was a one game format. The fight in the semis apparently took its toll on the team, the Beez put up a good fight but was downed - and we settled for fourth placing. It was a good outing in a great tourney. We have made good impression with our teamwork and fighting spirits and shown the other teams that established teams were not unbeatable.
